Pompette is our monovarietal Grenache Blanc from Rancho Boa Vista vineyard in Ballard Canyon. Pompette is a playful yet serious wine and the name is a feminine french, colloquial term for buzzed, happy or tipsy (on life...).
Pompette was sourced from sandy/loamy soils in "cool-climate" Ballard Canyon. The RBV vineyard, nestled between large hills and protected from the first part of the day's sun, is planted under to mediterranean varietals, yielding fleshy and fruit-driven wines wich are balanced by cool temperatures, large diurnal swings and sandy soil whose perfume eminates in the glass.
We aged Pompette in 2008-2011 vintage 225 Liter barrels after fermentation for 5 months and then racked into stainless steel for one month until bottling. Our intention was to make highly aromatic, tropical-toned and fleshy Grenache, with complexity and light spice notes from nuetral barrels in a verticala and nervy style.
